Event Notes:

Choose a 7 mile 950 foot out-and-back or an 8.6 mile 1,300 foot elevation gain balloon hike into Morgan Territory Regional Preserve starting from Finley Road. Route will be Old Finley Road, Riggs Canyon Trail, cross over to Tassajara Creek Trail stopping at Bob's Pond picnic table to rest/snack/enjoy the view. Short hike turns around here and retraces the same trails back to the cars. Long hike continues on Tassajara Creek Trail, Highland Ridge Road, Old Finley Road, Amphitheater Trail, Walnut Trail, rejoining Old Finley Road back to the trailhead. No facilities on this hike.

Gateway to the far eastern portion of Mount Diablo and the far western part of Morgan Territory.

From I-680 take Sycamore Valley Road exit and head east. Travel 1.6 miles and keep straight at the junction of Sycamore Valley Road and Camino Tassajara. The road changes names to Camino Tassajara, continue for 6 miles. You will enter a very rural area, shortly after you will turn left on Finley Road. Continue about 1.4 miles and you will see some parking pull-outs on the side of the road. We will meet at the cars and make the 3/4 mile hike to the trailhead together.
