Event Notes:

Choose a 6.6 mile 1,600 foot or an 8.8 mile 1,900 foot elevation gain out-and-back hike into Mount Diablo starting from Merlin Court in Alamo. Route will be Green Valley Trail, immediately after entering Mount Diablo State Park right on Lower Bridge Loop to South Gate Road, turn around and continue on the single track Summit Trail, right after crossing the bridge up Summit Trail fire road to Live Oak Campground stopping to rest/snack. Short hike turns around here and returns back on Summit Trail fire road and Green Valley Trail back to the cars. Long hike continues up the paved park roadway past Elephant Rock, left at the top of the grade down to the junction of South Gate Road, Wall Point Rd. and Summit Trail where it follows Summit Trail, left down Staircase Trail, right on Wall Point Road, left on Summit Trail to Live Oak Campground and same return as short hike described above. No facilities at trailhead but water and flush toilets at Live Oak Campground.
