We will meet in one of the lower lots, NOT the main lot, please follow the directions below! From Walnut Creek/Danville: Take 24 west to exit 13 toward Central Lafayette/Moraga. Turn left on Deer Hill road, first left (Orchard Road is on the right) into the parking area and meet there. From Oakland/Orinda: Follow CA-24 E to Oak Hill Rd in Lafayette. Take exit 12, turn left from offramp onto Oak Hill, then right on Deer Hill, second right into parking area.

Lagoons and Crests Hike 2


Join us for a 9:30 am hike at Briones Regional Park. Hiker's choice of a short 7 mile/1670' moderate+ hike or a longer 8 mile/1870' challenging hike. Please download and print out the trail route map here.

Hike begins on Old Briones Road, left on Black Oak, right on Mott Peak, right on Briones Crest, left on Lagoon, left to stay on Lagoon, another left to stay on Lagoon. All hikers will take a rest break at the top of the hill after a long climb. Hike continues right on Briones Crest Trail. At marker #13 the hikes diverge. The short hike continues straight on down Briones Crest until the end, then left by Oak Grove Picnic area and back to the parking area.

The long hike turns right on Deer Creek Tr., right on Pereira, left then right following the Ivan Dickson loop trail out and back to the Ivan Dickson Memorial. Return to the junction and turn right on Pereira, then right on Deer Creek Tr., until the end where you turn left and head toward Oak Grove Picnic area and on to the parking area.

Trail Notes:

Briones' 6,255 acres are home to many animals and birds, which forage on the grasslands or find shelter among the oaks and bays. You may see black-tailed deer, coyotes, squirrels, red-tailed hawks, turkey vultures, and, if you are lucky, other more reclusive creatures. There are gorgeous wildflower displays in season.

Exit Highway 24 at the Orinda/Camino Pablo exit 9 and head toward Richmond on Camino Pablo for 2.2 miles. Turn right on Bear Creek Rd/Wildcat Canyon Rd and travel about 4.5 miles. The staging area is on the right slightly past the Happy Valley Rd intersection. From Richmond take San Pablo Dam Rd to Bear Creek Road/Wildcat Canyon Rd and turn left. Then follow above info to reach the staging area. For map users, the intersection of Bear Creek Rd and Happy Valley Rd is close to the staging area.

Parking Fee: $3 when kiosk attend
Other Fees: $2 per dog
