Event Notes:

Don Edwards to Coyote Hills

A two-for-one hike along the Baylands of Fremont from Don Edwards National Wildlife Refuge into EBRPD Coyote Hills. Your choice of a
Easy 6.8 mile, 500 ft, or a
Moderate 7.7 mile, 850 ft hike.

Starting from the large parking lot near the Refuge Administrative Headquarters building, we take the Tidelands Trail for a 1.5 mile loop of the refuge before entering Coyote hills on Quarry and Apay Way Trails.

At this point the shorter hike turns left on Bayview Trail, and follows it to the Nike Trail where you turn right crossing over the hills.

Meanwhile the longer hike ascends the hill on Red Hill Trail, taking it almost all the way to Alameda Creek where we turn left on Bayview Trail to a left on the Nike Trail to cross over the hill.

Both hikes will follow the Nike Trail East, turning right on Bayview Trail to the lawn area by the Visitor Center for our snack.

After our snack we head back to Don Edwards on Bayview, Apay, and Quarry Trails.

Leader: Joel Schantz
