Event Notes:

About a 7 mile, 1,100 foot elevation gain, mostly out and back hike. Route will be York Trail, Merritt College walkways, Leona Trail stopping to rest/snack at the end of Leona Trail. Return back up Leona Trail, Merritt College walkways, turning left after crossing 2nd crosswalk to bay overlook, down No Name Trail to graffiti art site, McDonell Trail, McDonell Avenue and Mountain Blvd. back to the trailhead. No facilities on this hike.

Trail Notes:

Leona Heights Park is an Oakland City Park. It has a year round flowing creek, second growth redwoods, several small waterfalls, four bridges and two plank crossings. It provides access to Merritt College, outstanding bay views, and EBRPs Leona Canyon Regional Open Space Preserve.

Leona Heights Park is an Oakland City Park not to be confused with Leona Canyon ROSP an EBRP. Trailhead is next to Leona Lodge, 4444 Mountain Blvd., Oakland. Heading South on HWY 13 take the Redwood Road Exit, Exit 1C, turn left onto Redwood Road for 1/4 mile, then right onto Mountain Blvd. Heading North on HWY 13 take the Carson Street Exit, Exit 1, immediately a sharp right turn onto Mountain Blvd. Mountain Blvd. parallels HWY 13. Leona Lodge is on your left, trailhead is just below Leona Lodge. Street parking only.
