Los Vaqueros Mother's Day Hike

A Challenging 8.8 mile/1500 ft elevation loop hike in CCWD Los Vaqueros Watershed.

Starting from the Kellogg Creek Recreation Area we head up to the ridge on Walnut, Salamander, Kit Fox, and Eagle Ridge Trails to a snack spot with great views of Mt Diablo, Round Valley and Los Vaqueros.

We will complete the loop on Eagle Ridge, Vista Grande, Crest, Los Vaqueros Interpretive, and Kellogg Creek Trails.

Please Note: No Dogs allowed in Los Vaqueros.

No dogs except seeing-eye dogs. Not advisable for strollers or wheelchairs. Restrooms and water at start/finish and Visitor Center.

From the east(Sacramento, Stockton): HWY4 west(Charter Way) from Stockton to Byron Rd (J4); right on Camino Diablo; left on Walnut Ave into north Los Vaqueros Watershed entrance and Kellogg Picnic Area. From the southwest(Hayward, San Jose): I-580 east; north on Vasco Rd.(do not turn into south entrance/marina, keep going to Camino Diablo); left on Camino Diablo; left on Walnut Blvd into north Los Vaqueros Watershed entrance and Kellogg Picnic Area. From southest (Modesto): Hwy 132 west; I-580 west; north on Mountain House Parkway; left on Byron Rd (J4); left on Camino Diablo; left on Walnut Blvd into north Los Vaqueros Watershed enrance and Kellog Picnic Area. From west (SF, Walnut Creek): I-80 east to Hwy24 east, get in 3rd lane from left; north (toward Concord) at end of 24 onto 680, first right exit to Ygnacio Valley Rd.; east on Ygnacio Valley Rd; right on Clayton Rd.; left (east) on Marsh Creek Rd to Brentwood; right (south) on Walnut Blvd into north Los Vaqueros Watershed entrance and Kellogg Picnic Area. From north (Concord): Hwy 4 east to Antioch; Hwy 4 Bypass south to Walnut Blvd; south on Walnut Blvd, crossing Marsh Creek and Camino Diablo, into north Los Vaqueros Watershed entrance and Kellogg Picnic Area.

Parking Fee: $4 res/$6 non-res
