Event Notes:

A moderate, approximately 7-mile, 1200-ft elevation gain loop hike from Castle Rock Park to Borges Ranch. Meet at the restrooms ΒΌ mile from the parking area.

Route is across the lawn and right on Castle Rock Trail, left on trail towards power tower, left on Shell Ridge Loop Trail, right at junction with Fairy Lantern Trail, left on Buckeye Ravine Trail, right on Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail, right on Borges Ranch Trail to Borges Ranch.

After a short snack/rest stop return on Borges Ranch Trail, right on Twin Ponds Loop Trail past the ponds, left uphill on the trail at Bullfrog Pond, left on Foothills Trail, left on Stonegate Trail, left on Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail, pass both Buckeye Ravine Trails, then right on Fairy Lantern Trail, continue right on Fairy Lantern Trail, left on Stage Road for return to Castle Rock Park.

From 24 Fwy take the I-680 N exit on the left toward SACRAMENTO/CONCORD and then exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. From 680 northbound exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. Turn right onto Ygnacio Valley Rd and drive 2.2 miles to Walnut Ave. Turn RIGHT on Walnut Ave and drive 1.6 miles to the roundabout and take the first exit onto Oak Grove Rd. From Ygnacio Valley Rd westbound, turn LEFT onto Oak Grove Rd and drive for 1.1 miles to the roundabout. At the roundabout Oak Grove Rd becomes Castle Rock Rd. Drive for 2.1 miles to the Park. Limited parking is available at the end of Castle Rock Rd but ther is additional parking at the Orchard Staging Area on the right before the end of the road
