Event Notes:

Curry Point - Green Ranch Loop

A Challenging 8 mile, 1800+ ft. loop hike in Mount Diablo State Park to explore Curry Canyon and the Green Ranch site

Starting from the Curry Point Parking lot down Knobcone Point and Curry Canyon Roads then up Frog Pond Road to Green Ranch Road where we begin a 1300ft climb to the Green Ranch Site for our snack break.

For the faster hikers a short/optional out-and-back to explore the Frog Pond adds an additional 0.4 mile before the big ascent.

After the snack break we return to Curry Point on Green Ranch Road, Oak Knoll, Summit, and Camp Force Trails.

Note: Please visit the toilets at Rock City or North Gate/South Gate Road Junction before arrival at Curry Point, as there are no facilities at Curry Point.

For those interested in carpooling, please meet at 8:30am at the Sycamore Valley Road Park and Ride lot located at the northeast corner of the I-680/Sycamore Valley Road interchange.

Leader: Joel Schantz

From Highway 680 exit Diablo Road. Follow the brown parks signs: drive east on Diablo Road, turn right to continue on Diablo Road at El Cerro, straight at Green Valley, then left onto Mount Diablo Scenic Boulevard at Stop Sign. Drive north on Mount Diablo Scenic Boulevard, which morphs into South Gate Road at the park boundary. Drive carefully uphill on this narrow road (watch out for bicyclists) to the entrance kiosk. Then continue about 1.5 miles to a broad flat parking lot on the right side of the road (the Curry Point sign is near the start of the trail, but it's the first parking lot past Rock City).

Parking Fee: $10
