Event Notes:

Hikers choice of either a 5.5 mile 750 foot or 8.7 mile 1,300 foot elevation gain loop hike in Crockett Hills Regional Park. Route will be Edwards Creek Trail, Wood Rat Trail, tunnel under roadway, Sky Trail, short hike will snack/rest at the two picnic tables at the overlook. Short hike returns on Soaring Eagle Trail, tunnel under roadway, after exiting tunnel do not go down Crockett Ranch Trail but go right on Edwards Loop Trail for 100 yards then left down Edwards Loop Trail and left on Edwards Creek Trail back to the cars. Long hike continues past the overlook on Big Valley Trail, Kestrel Loop Trail, stopping to rest/snack at the BIG PIPE at the end of the valley. Then return up Sugar City Trail to the overlook and follow same return as short hike above.

Crockett Hills Regional Park, 1,300 acres, opened in 2006. It is part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail System.

Trailhead is 1614 Crockett Blvd. Take HWY 680 through Concord to HWY 4. West on HWY 4 towards Martinez/Hercules. After 8 miles take the Cummings Skyway/Crockett Exit. Right onto Cummings Skyway for 2 miles. At the signal light, right onto Crockett Blvd. for 1.6 miles to the park entrance on your left at the bottom of the hill. There are signs for Crockett Hills Regional Park, you will need to make a 180 degree left turn to enter the Crockett Ranch staging area. If you come to the stop sign at Pomona Street, you passed the park entrance by 1/4 mile.
