Either an 8.5-mile, 1100-ft or a shorter 5-mile, 1000-ft hike in Round Valley Regional Preserve.
Route from the staging area is across the bridge, then left onto the Hardy Canyon Trail up to the gap. Those that want to enjoy a nice view may turn left at the gap for a short distance to the top of the hill. From the gap continue down to the Miwok Trail. The short hike will turn right on the Miwok Trail and follow it back 1.7 miles to the trailhead parking area.
The longer hike will turn left on the Miwok Trail, right on the Murphy Meadow Trail, left on the trail to the Round Valley Group Camp where we will take a short rest/snack stop.
Then return from the Group Camp, left on the Murphy Meadow Trail, continuing right on the Murphy Meadow Trail, crossing the bridge then left on the Miwok Trail for the return to the staging area.
Water and restrooms are available at the staging area and the Group Camp. Dogs are not allowed in Round Valley. For GPS or map users the address of the Round Valley staging area is 19450 Marsh Creek Road in Brentwood.
