Event Notes:

Moderate 7+ mile, 1,200-foot elevation gain loop hike from EBMUD's Valle Vista Staging Area in Moraga. Driving directions below should read: Valle Vista is 7 miles on Moraga Road from HWY 24. Route will be Riche Loop Trail, King Canyon Loop Trail to Rancho Laguna Park, stopping to rest/snack. Return on EBRPD's Old Moraga Ranch Trail, reconnecting with King Canyon Loop Trail back to the parking area. Porta-potty at Valle Vista trailhead, water & bathrooms at Rancho Laguna Park. Bring EBMUD trail use permit. Those without can be a guest of a permit holder. IGNORE TRAIL NOTES BELOW!

Trail Notes:

This is about a 6 mile hike and for the most part, just gradual inclines (mostly gently rolling hills), although there is a pretty tough 1 mile climb between miles 4 and 5. A hiking permit is required for this trail.

Trailhead Directions:

From Walnut Creek, take 24 to the Central Lafayette exit and make the first 2 immediate right turns off of 24. Make a right on Mt. Diablo Blvd. and a left on Moraga Road. Follow Moraga Road all the way to the Valle Vista Staging Area (about 5 miles). The staging area will be on the left.

Other Fees: Permits cost $3/day, $10/1yr, $20/3yrs, $30/5yrs
