About a 7.5-mile, 1400-ft loop hike to Castle Rock Park from Snyder Lane.
Start from the Snyder Lane gate, sharp left to stay on trail then right on Costanoan Trail, right on Upper Buck Loop Trail, right on Deer Lake Trail past Deer Lake, left on Corral Spring Trail, straight on Costanoan Trail, right on Borges Ranch Trail past the Ranch, left on Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail, left on Shell Ridge Loop Trail, right on Fairy Lantern Trail, left on Stage Road to Castle Rock Park for a rest/snack stop at the picnic tables near the restrooms.
For the return trek, cross the baseball field and continue through the gate, right on the Castle Rock Trail, left on the trail just before the overflow parking lot and pass the power tower on the ridge, continue down Borges Ranch Trail to Bob Pond, then right to the Hanna Lane Trail, left on the Flat Top Trail, continue left on the Flat Top Trail, right on the Sulfur Creek Trail, left on the street at the bottom through the gate to the Costanoan Trail, continuing straight then right on the trail to Snyder Lane.
Restrooms and water at Bob Pond, Borges Ranch and Castle Rock Park. Dogs OK, but must be leashed in these areas.

No facilities at trailhead. Water, restrooms, and covered picnic tables available at Borges Ranch. Dog friendly, off-leash OK on trails.

From 680 Fwy exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. Turn right onto Ygnacio Valley Rd and drive for 1.7 miles to Walnut Ave (NOT Walnut Blvd). Turn right onto Walnut Ave and proceed for 1.3 miles to Snyder Lane. Turn right and drive for 0.6 miles to end of road. Park on street.
From Ygnacio Valley Rd westbound drive to Wiget Lane. Turn left and drive for 0.7 mile to Walnut Ave. Turn left and proceed on Walnut Ave for 0.3 miles to Synder Lane. Turn right on Snyder Lane and drive for 0.6 mile to end of road. Park on street.
