Event Notes:

Superbowl Sunday Struggle

Work off those game day snacks ahead of time with this hike at Las Trampas and the infamous Del Amigo hill. This difficult (one level above challenging) 6 mile/2400 ft gain hike has some steep inclines, a bit of rock climbing, and the long slog up Del Amigo hill. This hike also has some of the best views of Mt Diablo and the tri-valley. The isolated canyons and dense woodlands provide the sense you are hiking in the back country wilderness, and it promises to be a spectacular sunny day. All that and we'll have you home in plenty of time for the big game!

Route will be right on Bollinger Creek Loop, left on Chamise, right on Mahogany, right on Chamise, left on Las Trampas Ridge, right on Corduroy Hills, straight/right on Madrone, right to stay on Madrone, left on Virgil Williams. We will take a break near the creek to refuel before the climb back up.

The hike continues on Virgil Williams across Madrone, right on Del Amigo (where we will gain 500 feet in half a mile), right on Sulphur Springs, straight across Las Trampas Ridge to Trapline, left on Mahogany, left on Chamise, right on Bollinger Creek Loop and back to the parking lot.

As usual there will be detailed maps available and flour arrows to mark your way. Facilities are located at the parking lot only. Dogs permitted.
