Event Notes:

About a 5.5 mile, 1,400-foot elevation gain, out-and-back hike in Sobrante Ridge Regional Preserve and Pinole Valley Park. (Use 5524 Conestoga Way, Richmond for GPS) Route will be Sobrante Ridge Trail, Morningside Trail, and Downer Trail stopping to rest/snack in Pinole Valley Park. Return will be back up Downer Trail, along Morningside Trail, and down Sobrante Ridge Trail to the trailhead. No bathrooms/water at trailhead but they are available in Pinole Valley Park where we will rest/snack.

Sobrante Ridge Regional Preserve is part of the Bay Area Ridge Trail System as well as providing access to Pinole Valley Park to the west and EBMUD's Pinole Valley Watershed to the east.

Sobrante Ridge Regional Preserve, 5524 Conestoga Way, Richmond.

From HWY 24 take the Orinda Exit and turn North on Camino Pablo, which becomes San Pablo Dam Road. After about 8 miles turn right onto Castro Ranch Road (Castro Ranch Road is the first signal-light intersection 0.8 mile past the Kennedy Grove Park entrance.) Go 1.2 miles on Castro Ranch Road and turn left on Conestoga Way. If you come to Carriage Dr. you missed the left turn onto Conestoga Way. Trailhead is immediately on your left, Street Parking only.
