Event Notes:
this is an easy out and back hike with very little elevation change. We will sneak over onto the LOS VAQUEROS watershed for an additional mile or so,permits required so if u have them bring 'um We will stop for snacks under the shad trees at the boundary gate APPX: 7-8 miles round trip

Trail Notes:

We will be doing an easy, out & back hike of 6 miles on the Miwok Trail (75% sun). This site is on the east side of Mt. Diablo, so allow plenty of time to get there (it takes 45 minutes from San Ramon).

Due to the sensitive nature of the wildlife habitat at Round Valley, dogs are not allowed in the park.

Trailhead Directions:

From Walnut Creek: From I-680, exit at Ygnacio Valley Road. Proceed eastbound towards Concord to Clayton Road (about 8 miles). Right turn onto Clayton road. Clayton Road becomes Marsh Creek Road in Clayton. Proceed east on Marsh Creek Road, past Deer Valley Road until you reach the Preserve Staging area on your right. The Staging area is located approximately 7.5 miles past the Marsh Creek Detention Facility, or about 20 minutes east of dowtown Clayton.

From Brentwood: Take Walnut Blvd south to Marsh Creek Road, turn right onto Marsh Creek Road. When Marsh Creek Road intersects with Camino Diablo Road, bear right to stay on Marsh Creek Road. You will reach the Preserve Staging Area on your left.

Coming from the south (Livermore area), take Hwy 580 to Vasco Rd. north about 15 miles to Camino Diablo (traffic light). Left about 5 miles to RVP on the left. Note that Camino Diablo's name changes to Marsh Creek Rd. after about 2 miles.
