Event Notes:

About a 7 mile, 1,000 foot elevation gain hike into Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area and San Pablo Dam Reservoir starting from the Kennedy Grove parking lot. Route starts counter clockwise on Laurel Loop Trail, Kennedy Creek Trail, Black Oak Trail, Black Oak Loop Trail, back down Black Oak Trail, Upper Sea Foam Trail, right on Lower Sea Foam Trail, Laurel Loop Trail, Bay Area Ridge Trail, Old San Pablo Trail, Lakeview Trail stopping at the visitor center/boat house to rest/snack. Return back on Lakeview Trail, no name shoreline trail, Old San Pablo Trail back to the parking lot. Water/bathrooms at trailhead and Visitor Center.

Laurel Trail provides access to a number of other trails for a variety of loop hikes in Kennedy Grove. Additionally, San Pablo Reservoir is a short distance away from this trailhead.

Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area, 6531 San Pablo Dam Road, El Sobrante. From HWY 24 take the Orinda Exit and turn north on Camino Pablo, which becomes San Pablo Dam Road. Kennedy Grove is at the far end of San Pablo Reservoir about 7.5 miles after exiting HWY 24. The entrance is on your right about one mile after the entrance to the San Pablo Marina/Recreation Area. From northbound I-80, take the San Pablo Dam Road exit and turn right. Proceed through El Sobrante on San Pablo Dam Road to the park entrance, about 0.25 mile south of the intersection with Castro Ranch Road. From southbound I-80, take the San Pablo Dam Road exit and turn left. Proceed through El Sobrante on San Pablo Dam Road to the park entrance, about 0.25 mile south of the intersection with Castro Ranch Road
