Starting at 9:30 am from Castle Rock Park, this is a moderate 7.5-mile 1400-ft elevation gain hike to the Livorna Staging Area. Please download and print out the route map here.
Meet at the restrooms about 1/4 mile from parking area.
Route will be across the grass field, through the gate and left on Castle Rock Trail, continuing on Stage Road, right on Fairly Lantern Trail, left to continue to top of hill, right on Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail, left on Borges Ranch Trail, right on south Twin Ponds Loop Trail to Bullfrog Pond. Right on Sugarloaf - Shell Ridge Trail, left on Franco Ranch Trail, left on Hazard Trail, right on Foothills Trail to the Livorna Staging Area.
After a short rest/snack stop return on Alamo Trail, left up Hanging Valley Trail, right on Stonegate Trail, left on Briones to Mt. Diablo Trail, right on 2nd Buckeye Ravine Trail, right on Fairy Lantern Trail, left on Stage Road to return to Castle Rock Park.

From 24 Fwy take the I-680 N exit on the LEFT toward SACRAMENTO/CONCORD and then exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. From 680 Fwy exit at Ygnacio Valley Rd. Turn RIGHT onto Ygnacio Valley Rd and drive 2.2 miles to Walnut Ave (NOT Walnut Blvd). Turn RIGHT on Walnut Ave and drive 1.6 miles to the roundabout and take the first exit onto Oak Grove Rd. From Ygnacio Valley Rd westbound, turn LEFT onto Oak Grove Rd and drive for 1.1 miles to the roundabout. From the roundabout, Oak Grove Rd becomes Castle Rock Rd. Drive for 2.1 miles to the Park. Limited parking is available at the end of Castle Rock Rd but ther is additional parking at the Orchard Staging
