Event Notes:

It's time for the annual trek around the Lake. 9 miles and one 500 ft hill. Total elevation gain is around 800 ft. We will snack just past the mid point in a nice grassy meadow that we can see from the Columbine trail. There is a porta potty there. We meet at the Marina which is next to the Lake. We will hike counter clockwise from the Marina. Parking fee is about $5, + $2 for dogs. You can also park free in the street. Restrooms and snacks at the Marina.

Trail Notes:

Lake Chabot Reservoir was built in 1874-75 as a primary source of water for the East Bay. The 315-acre lake was closed to recreation for 91 years. Legislation passed in the 1960s opened the lake for controlled recreational uses. Currently, the lake serves as a standby emergency water supply. For this reason, visitors are asked to observe certain necessary regulations to keep the waters pure.
