Event Notes:

About an 8-mile loop hike from Bob Pond to Macedo Ranch with an estimated 1200-foot elevation gain. Route will be Borges Ranch, Briones Mt. Diablo trails, and Wall Point Rd. to Macedo Ranch. After a short rest/snack stop, return via Wall Point Rd., Briones Mt. Diablo and Little Yosemite trails, Stage Rd., Shell Ridge Loop, Briones Mt. Diablo and Borges Ranch trails to Bob Pond. Restrooms, water and picnic tables at Bob Pond and Macedo Ranch. Dogs are not allowed in Mt. Diablo State Park.

Trail Notes:

Bob Pond is about 0.1 mile before the road ends at Borges Ranch. There are many trails here which provide for a variety of hikes of varying length and difficulty.


Directions to Trailhead:

From 680 Fwy, take Ygnacio Valley Rd for 2.3 miles to Walnut Ave (not Blvd). Turn right and proceed for 1.6 miles to the traffic circle. Take 1st exit onto Oak Grove Rd and continue on Castle Rock Rd for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto the signed road to Borges Ranch and continue for 0.6 mile to Bob Pond parking area. From the east, take Ygnacio Valley Rd to Oak Grove Rd. Turn left and proceed for 1.0 mile to the traffic circle. Continue straight on Oak Grove and continue on Castle Rock Rd for 1.0 mile. Turn right onto the signed road to Borges Ranch and continue for 0.6 mile to Bob Pond parking area.
