Sunol to Mission Peak

City: Sunol
Park: Sunol Regional Wilderness

Event Notes:

This hike is a favorite of mine. It is 10.5 miles, but most of it is easy. Most of it is in forest, but when we reach the grasslands, the climb starts. Dress for the weather. We meet at the Green Barn, which is the first left after the entrance gate. Remember to purchase the $2 Ohlone permit. Dogs are allowed for a $2 fee, but I do not recommend it. We will snack and rest at the Peak. Rain will cancel this hike. Call me if unsure.

Trail Notes:

This is a difficult hike. 10.5 miles and 2,200 feet of elevation gain. Shade to start but then it is all sun. It's similiar to hiking to Juniper Camp from Mitchell Canyon. Be prepared. Potties and water at the start. It's dog friendly, but I would be cautious. Fee for dogs $2. Hiking poles are a plus.

Directions to Trailhead:

Exit 680 (either direction) at Calaveras Rd. From 680S you want to go under the frewway. From 680N you want to exit right. About 4 miles along Calaveras to Geary Rd. Take it into the Park. Watch out for bikers after 680. It is a winding road.

TrailHead Parking Fee: $6
Other Fees: $2 Ohlone permit
