Event Notes:

Full Moon Hike! This is a strenuous 6-mile out-and-back hike with about a 2000-foot elevation gain to Mission Peak. Come prepared with plenty of water and a snack. We'll rest and snack at the Peak for a bit to enjoy the sunset, moonrise and scenery. Bring a flashlight. It can be hot at the start but cold and windy at the Peak, so layer up. Plan on arriving at least 15 minutes early because the parking lot will likely be full. Street parking is available about a block down from the lot.

Trail Notes:

The almost full moon night should light up the way on this Mission Peak excursion, we'll begin at the edge of a Fremont residential neighborhood, hike fire roads, then take a little trail straight to the summit an over 2,000-foot ascent. On a clear day, the 360-degree views are inspiring but on windy days you may want to immediately head back downhill to the parking lot. This is a 6.2 miles/3 hour strenuous out-and-back hike with a total elevation gain of 2500 feet. (The Trail head is about 500 feet)

Directions to Trailhead:

Take 680 South towards San Jose. Take the Mission Blvd Exit onto Mission Blvd East. Go 1.2 miles. Turn right on Stanford Ave. Go for another .5 miles to the trialhead and park in the large dirt lot.

TrailHead Parking Fee: no charge
Other Fees: dogs free!
