Trail Notes:

This trip is for experienced hikers in good shape as there are a number of steep sections on this trail. The hike is 5.7 miles with total elevation gain over 1200 feet. The hike takes about 4 hours depending on how much time we spend up on top enjoying the views. The Spring Hill trail rises up to the Briones Crest and Table Top trails to Briones Peak (1483 elev.) and decends via the Sunrise Trail back to the parking lot. Along the way hikers are rewarded with views of Mt Tamalpias, Mt Diablo and the Carquinez Straights all at the same time. Hikers need to bring plenty of water and a light lunch is suggested as there are several areas near the top that are nice for an impromtu picnic.

Directions to Trailhead:

Coming on Highway 24 either East or West take the Pleasant Hill Rd exit North. Turn left at the second light onto Springhill Road. Go to end of Springhill road about (narrow towards the end) and park on the right side of the road. Parking is free but limited and car pooling is encouraged.
