Earle's Diablo Endurance Hike

City: Alamo
Park: Mt. Diablo State Park

Sunday, November 02, 2008 @ 6:30 AM

Event Notes:

Earle and Diane are going to co-lead this hike. We will meet at dawn (which will be at 6:36 a.m. on 11/2) at the East Bay Parks staging area located at the end of Livorna Road in Alamo. This is a 26 mile 'marathon' hike and should only be attempted by hikers comfortable with 10+ miles. We plan on going at a comfortable pace - slow and steady. Our route will take us to Borges Ranch for our first pit and water stop. We will lunch at Mt. Diablo Summit. There will be other pit and water stops along the way. Make sure your hiking shoes are well-fitting and bring plenty of water (at least 2 liters) and quick energy foods (fruit, gu, energy bars, etc.) If you have walkie-talkies and GPS devices, please bring them. Safety is important to us and therefore we want people to know their ability. The weather will be cooler - so think layers - but rain cancels.
