What's more fun than a hike on the Iron Horse Trail to the Danville Farmers' Market! We will hike 2.75 miles from Alamo to Danville on the Iron Horse Trail. We will then eat together and enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. If you want more information on the Danville Farmers' Market, click here: http://www.pcfma.com/markethome.php?market_id=4 Roundtrip mileage is 5.5 miles. There are restrooms at the farmers' market in Danville and at the Safeway in Alamo. Make sure to carry at least 1 liter of water, a hat for the sun, sunblock, and a daypack for fruits and vegetables. This hike is on a paved bike path and will take approximately two to three hours depending on the group. This is not a dog friendly hike.Contact: Evan
From Highway 680, exit Alamo/Stone Valley Road. Go west on Stone Valley Road. When you reach the stop light at Danville Boulevard continue straight through the stop light. You will still be on Stone Valley Road. You have two choices for parking. You can either park at the staging area for the Iron Horse Trail. There are only a few spaces and they are usually taken. A better choice is to park in the Safeway parking lot at Alamo Plaza. Day parking for the Iron Horse Trail is permitted in this lot. It will be on your right. When you turn into the shopping center parking lot, you will want to turn left into the first rows of parking. Then walk back to the sidewalk on Stone Valley Road and walk west a few hundred feet to the staging area by the Iron Horse Trail. There are a few benches and a drinking fountain. We will meet there.
