Event Notes:

Hikers choice of a 7.2 mile, 1,300 foot or 9.2 mile 1,700 foot elevation gain balloon hike starting in Oakland's Dimond Park. Route will be Dimond Canyon Trail, Park Blvd. Trail, Bridgeview Trail, Pedestrian Tunnel, Joaquin Miller Ct., Palos Colorados Trail, Sinawik Trail, crossing left over the stone bridge to right on Sunset Trail, short hike will rest/snack at the picnic tables east of the grass meadow and bathrooms. Long hike continues through the picnic area to a connector trail behind the tables, right on Sunset Loop Trail, left up Fern Ravine Trail, right on Orchard Trail, right on the paved park roadway, pass by the first Big Trees trail marker continuing on to Skyline Blvd., go right at the second Big Trees trail marker, right on Sequoia-Bayview Trail, left on Palos Colorados Trail, cross over the foot bridge to a left on Sunset Trail, joining the short hikers at the picnic tables east of the meadow and bathrooms. Both hikes return back down the Sunset Trail, left on Palos Colorados Trail, being sure to stay on Palos Colorados Trail at the four trail junction, then retrace route back to Dimond Park trailhead. Water/bathrooms at trailhead and rest/snack area. We will circle up on the large grass area inside Dimond Park past the bathrooms and basketball court across from the swimming pool. 9:00 AM START TIME!

Oakland's Dimond Park provides access to Sausal Creek trails and Joaquin Miller Park.

Directions to Trailhead:

From Walnut Creek, HWY 24 West to HWY 13 South, take the Joaquin Miller/Lincoln Ave. Exit. From Dublin, HWY 580 West, HWY 13 North, take the Joaquin Miller/Lincoln Ave. Exit. Go west on Lincoln Ave, right on Damuth St, right on Fruitvale Ave. Dimond Park pedestrian entrance is on your left, across the street from 3756 Fruitvale Ave. Street parking only, no parking lot.
